SING AWAY THE SHADOWS
Sing away the shadows,
Flitting o'er the sky;
Sing of starry comforts,
In the by and by!
Sing of love unfailing,
Mercies ever new;
Pardon, peace and blessing,
Guidance kind and true
Sing away, sing away,
Hopeful be the lay;
Sing away the shadows,
Flitting o'er the sky;
Sing away, sing away,
Trusting ev'ry day;
Sing of starry comforts
In the by and by.
Sing away the shadows,
Anxious doubt and fear;
Sing the Savior's promise,
Bringing sweetest cheer;
Trust the heav'nly Father,
He for you will care
More than for the sparrows,
Or the lilies fair.
Refrain
Sing away the shadows,
Selfish they may be;
Love's own happy music
Brings the light so free,
Lift another's burden,
Soothe another's woe,
Sharing with your neighbor,
Joy's returning glow.
Refrain
THE PRECIOUS FRIEND
There's an eye that watches o'er me,
Everywhere I'm called to go;
There's a light that shines before me,
Brighter still the way will grow;
There's a tender hand to guide me,
Thro' the sunlight and the shade;
There's a Friend Who walks beside me,
Ready to defend and aid.
Jesus is the precious Friend,
Brightening life's changeful story;
To His Name be all glory,
He will guide me and defend;
Joy, joy, happy songs ascend;
He will comfort me in sadness,
Fill my heart with peace and gladness,
Jesus is my precious Friend.
O, to love this Friend more dearly,
Yielding all my life to Him!
O, to trust Him more sincerely,
Whether skies be bright or dim;
Let my daily service praise Him,
Let my voice hosannas swell;
Grateful carols I would raise Him,
Jesus doeth all things well.
Refrain
Never will this Friend forsake me,
I would in His love confide,
Then whatever ills o'ertake me,
Peace shall in my soul abide;
O, how great is His salvation,
O, what mercy He'll extend!
He my Hope and Expectation,
He, my everlasting Friend.
Refrain
WIN THE WORLD FOR CHRIST
Hear our watchword loudly ringing,
Win the world for Christ;
Precious souls to Jesus bringing,
Win the world for Christ;
We must all take hold together;
Ev'ry one must do his share;
Seek them one by one, till the work is done;
Labor on (labor on) with pray'r.
Win the world for Christ;
Win one, win one!
And the work will grow, reaching all below,
Till the world is won for Christ.
Win the world for Christ;
Win one, win one!
And the work will grow, reaching all below,
Win the world (win the world) for Christ.
Send the word to ev'ry nation,
Win the world for Christ;
Spread the knowledge of salvation,
Win the world for Christ;
But we'll not forget our neighbors,
Those who live beside our door,
Speak a word of cheer to a brother near,
Serving more (serving more) and more.
Refrain
Tell the blessed Gospel story,
Win the world for Christ;
Till He comes again in glory,
Win the world for Christ;
Toiling on with faith and courage,
Till the sheaves are gathered in;
In ouir special place showing forth His grace,
Till the world (till the world) we win.
Refrain
THE VERY FRIEND I NEED
When I'm sad and heavy laden,
Burdened with the weight of sin,
Jesus is the very Friend I need;
To the bloodstained cross He points me,
And He gives me peace within,
Jesus is the very Friend I need.
O, He is the best of friends,
For His goodness never ends,
And His love will every human thought exceed;
Let me love Him more and more,
'Till I stand on glory's shore;
O, Jesus is the very Friend I need.
When I'm struggling with temptation,
When my strength shall almost fail,
Jesus is the very Friend I need;
For His arm will bring deliverance,
And His grace will still prevail,
Jesus is the very Friend I need.
Refrain
When I drink the cup of sorrow,
When I tread the path of grief,
Jesus is the very Friend I need;
In His Word is consolation,
In His presence sweet relief,
Jesus is the very Friend I need.
Refrain
When I reach the silent river,
When I wait beside the tide,
Jesus is the very Friend I need;
He will bear me o'er the billows
To the radiant morning side,
Jesus is the very Friend I need
Refrain
THIS SAME JESUS
Why stand ye idly gazing t'ward Heaven's blessed height?
This same Jesus is coming back again;
The shining angels told it, arrayed in spotless white;
This same Jesus is coming back again.
This same Jesus, this same Jesus;
Oh, tell the joyful tidings to all the sons of men!
Oh, let us work and pray, rejoicing every day;
This same Jesus is coming back again.
Receiving His good Spirit, we'll know His presence near;
This same Jesus is coming back again;
He fills us with His blessing, He gives us love and cheer;
This same Jesus is coming back again.
Refrain
Our lowly talents doubling, more faithful may we be;
This same Jesus is coming back again;
And spread abroad His Gospel with happy hearts and free;
This same Jesus is coming back again.
Refrain
In every time of trial we'll trust His changeless love;
This same Jesus is coming back again;
The mighty King of Glory still reigns for us above;
This same Jesus is coming back again.
Refrain
TELL THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD
Tell the whole wide world of Jesus,
Bear the news from shore to shore;
Telling sinners of the Savior,
Let the light spread more and more.
Tell the world, the whole wide world,
Bear the news from shore to shore;
Tell the whole wide world of Jesus,
Praise His Name foreermore!
Send abroad the Gospel heralds,
Let them take the blessed light;
Into every land of darkness,
Piercing through the shades of night,
Refrain
Yes, we'll send the joyful message,
Over mountain, over wave;
Telling everywhere of Jesus,
And His mighty power to save.
Refrain
While we pray for other nations,
Send them help with willing hand,
Let us not forget the home fields,
Jesus for our native land!
Refrain
STEPPING IN THE LIGHT
Trying to walk in the steps of the Savior,
Trying to follow our Savior and King;
Shaping our lives by His blessed example,
Happy, how happy, the songs that we bring.
How beautiful to walk in the steps of the Savior,
Stepping in the light, stepping in the light,
How beautiful to walk in the steps of the Savior,
Led in paths of light.
Pressing more closely to Him Who is leading,
When we are tempted to turn from the way;
Trusting the arm that is strong to defend us,
Happy, how happy, our praises each day.
Refrain
Walking in footsteps of gentle forbearance,
Footsteps of faithfulness, mercy, and love,
Looking to Him for the grace freely promised,
Happy, how happy, our journey above.
Refrain
Trying to walk in the steps of the Savior,
Upward, still upward, we follow our Guide;
When we shall see Him, "the King in His beauty,"
Happy, how happy, our place at His side.
Refrain
SPEAK FOR JESUS
Speak for Jesus; He hath touched you,
Raised you from the death of sin;
Use for Him the life He gives you;
Rise, and precious jewels win!
Arise and speak! arise and speak!
Christ is list'ning now above;
Arise and speak for Him Who saves you,
Arise and speak for Him you love!
Speak for Jesus; not unaided
Shall we go before His face;
He will take our lips and fill them
With the message of His grace.
Refrain
Speak for Jesus; let His Spirit
Tell you what to do and say;
Humbly, gladly own your Savior;
Let your light shine out today!
Refrain
Speak for Jesus, blessed Savior!
Tell of mercies, sweet and true;
Pleading, on His throne of glory,
He is speaking now for you.
Refrain
SOMEBODY ELSE NEEDS A BLESSING
We're "counting" the blessings, our joys we record,
The wonderful mercies like sunbeams outpoured;
But let us remember while praising the Lord,
Somebody else needs a blessing.
Somebody else needs a blessing,
Somebody else needs a blessing;
We'll let our lights shine to His glory divine,
Somebody else needs a blessing.
We'll go, like the Savior, to comfort the sad;
With love's healing portion we'll make others glad,
Until, with fresh verdure, life's deserts are clad;
Somebody else neds a blessing.
Refrain
We'll tell the old story again and again;
Salvation for sinners, good will unto men,
Till Gospel songs echo from mountain to glen;
Somebody else needs a blessing.
Refrain
MOVE FORWARD
Let the whole wide world be taken,
In the name of Christ our King;
Let the powers of sin be shaken,
And our shouts of victory ring;
Jesus calls, why should we tarry?
Let our loyal hearts respond,
And the fight of faith we'll carry
To the regions still beyond.
Move forward into battle!
Let this our watchword be;
With Christ, our mighty Captain,
We'll gain the victory;
He leads us to the battle,
The King Whom we adore;
We'll fight till He shall conquer all,
And reign from shore to shore.
Onward with the Gospel story,
Let the Word of Life prevail
Over evils grim and hoary;
Never shall our Leader fail;
He it is Who goes before us,
'Tis His banner floats on high;
Lift again the joyful chorus,
Hail the trimph drawing nigh.
Refrain
Take the armor of salvation,
Battling on the fields afar;
Giant ills, in every nation,
Fall before the Morning Star;
"Go ye," hear the Master saying,
With His ever conquering sword;
Help us, Lord, Thy Word obeying,
Faith shall gain a rich reward.
Refrain
